About Provironic (Mesterolone)
Mesterolone is an orally active, 1-methylated DHT derivative. As a non-aromatizable androgen, it does not convert to estrogen. Due to tissue control via 3α-HSD and protein binding (SHBG/albumin), it is not considered a primary agent for muscle hypertrophy when used alone.
Common Uses in Bodybuilding Context
- Estrogen management: High affinity for aromatase may help reduce estrogenic side effects and water retention when combined with aromatizable steroids.
- Free testosterone support: Competes for SHBG/albumin, potentially increasing the fraction of free testosterone from concurrent testosterone use.
- Pre-contest look: Often added to enhance hardness and muscle density by minimizing fluid retention.
- Libido support: Used alongside compounds that may suppress libido (e.g., nandrolone, trenbolone).
Safety & Notes
- Generally well-tolerated in men; high doses may cause virilization in women.
- Typical use ranges reported: 25–50 mg/day sufficient for most goals (higher doses are usually unnecessary).
- May suppress natural testosterone; not advised as a standalone long-term agent.
